It’s all in the details in Italy—from fine art to fine dining, not a thing is left unembellished
Venice
The best of all the things we enjoyed in Venice. 4 days and 3 very late nights. The only photo of us as a group and it’s out of focus 😅 @jameskightley @domtkho @sophistry
Absolutely fantastic. MUST GO! Olive oil to dip bread in was fantastic. The Ravioli made me fall in love with Ravioli, and the Grilled Eel was very different to Asia’s ways of cooking it. Loved the Octopus 🐙 and Red Shrimp with Buratta appetisers. Oh, and the olive oil was fantastic.
Calle dei Fabbri, San Marco, Venice, Italy
The most expensive coffee in the world at €16 per double espresso. But we came here in the evening and it was wonderful. An ambience we’ll never forget and a fantastic band.
Calle Larga XXII Marzo, San Marco, Venice, Italy
Came for lunch because apparently dinner always needs to be booked months in advance. It is FANTASTIC. But yes, price tags to match. Declared by Dom to be the MUST GO best meal. Incredibly flavourful and fresh fish dishes.
Calle del Mondo Novo, No. 5801, Venice, Italy
Fantastic Gelato... that dark chocolate is sinful.
Calle dei Fabbri, No. 929, San Marco, Venice, Italy
Where we met up with Charlie @sophistry and the gang. Great environment, not too crowded, great breeze. Feels a little less touristy and relaxing.
No. 2962 Campo Santo Stefano, San Marco, Venice, Italy
Dinner that night - James declared it the best food he’s had in Venice. Terrible dessert though. What a letdown tiramisu.
Salizada San Antonin 3499, Castello, Venice, Italy
The late late lunch before dinner. James again declared it to be his best meal. Simple, delicious pasta and pizza. Have to say their carbonara (that Terry ordered) was one of the best I’ve eaten. Really good stuff. The little bites of Cicchetti weren’t amazing.
No. 1544 Calle dei Botteri, Venice, Italy
The bridge upon which this photo was taken. Good looking boys - just had to put this up coz they’re all so swanky 💕
Venice, Italy
Fantastic food, beautiful location, and aggressive mosquitos. “What scent are you wearing?” “Active Off”. The tiramisu here is fantastic.
Piazza Santa Fosca, No. 29, Torcello, Venice, Italy
Headed towards trouble at the only nightclub in Venice... that doesn’t deserve a mention and has a €30 cover fee and is terrible. (Piccolo) shhh we don’t talk about that night.
River degli Schiavoni, Venice, Italy
Not amazing pizza but at 3pm on a Sunday we didn’t have many options. The Caprese salad was terrible. The tomatoes were terrible. But there was a decent salami pizza. Not amazing, but decent considering other restaurants were closed... and we were healing from the night before.
Calle larga San Marco 404, Venice, Italy
Hired a private guide at the very last minute to take us around the Doge’s Palace. Was interesting but unfortunately her English wasn’t the best, so won’t leave contact details coz no point.
San Marco 1, Venice, Italy
Again, declared by James to be the “Best Meal in Venice!” Although their portions were generous, prices are good, and their Secondi... top 3 items (don’t remember what the exact menu items were) were fabulous. Something was called Saor and greatly recommended. Their sardines with onions and olive oil were super yummy!! We also had pasta. The pasta with the mussels were fab. James ordered pasta with squid ink and he enjoyed it. But I’ll be remembering the pasta with mussels.
5228 Calle dei Stagneri, San Marco, Venice, Italy
Headed to the airport, everyone is happy, no plans to return. Bye bye Venice! You were expensive, you were the epitome of a tourist trap, you were a bucket list item, and you were really special and unique, being built on a swamp in order to escape the raids as the Roman Empire collapsed. It was fun and I hope you won’t actually sink 😘
