The one where I remember all the places I’ve watched concerts in. A backstory: When I started working in publishing, the first beat I ever covered was music. I’ve since had the pleasure of watching (and sometimes also interviewing) some of the biggest names in music throughout my writing career. I also ended up traveling to watch some of my favorite artists in concert—something I still do on occasion. Thank you for the music! 🎶
Where it all started for me! My first major assignment as an editorial assistant for our magazine was interviewing Patrick Stump and Andy Hurley of Fall Out Boy in 2009. *screams* Since then, I’ve watched more concerts here—still the venue with the best acoustics, in my opinion! Some of my favorite concerts here are: 1. Fall Out Boy: Save Rock and Roll Tour 2. Lady Gaga: The Fame Ball Tour 3. Avril Lavigne (Lol!) 4. The Moffatts: The Farewell Tour 5. Incubus: If Not Now, When? Tour 6. In The Mix 2016 feat. The 1975, Panic! at the Disco, Third Eye Blind, James Bay and Elle King 7. Smash Project 2012 feat. The Used and Dashboard Confessional 8. Carly Rae Jepsen 9. Jason Mraz feat. Toca Rivera
Smart Araneta Coliseum, General Araneta, Cubao, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
One of the most popular concert venues in Manila, many a pop star have graced the arena with their presence since opening its doors in 2012. It can house as much as 20,000 and seat 15,000 people. Some of the most memorable performances I’ve watched here include: 1. Madonna: Rebel Heart Tour 2. Selena Gomez: The Revival Tour 3. Taylor Swift: The Red Tour 4. Ariana Grande: The Honeymoon Tour 5. Bruno Mars: The Moonshine Jungle Tour 6. J.Lo: Dance Again World Tour 7. New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys 8. Lady Gaga: Born This Way Ball 9. Britney Spears 10. Idina Menzel 11. Incubus Seven years later, the Arena is the go-to concert venue for major names in music!
Mall of Asia Complex, J.W. Diokno Blvd, Pasay, 1300 Metro Manila, Philippines
Home of the very first Wanderland, the Philippines’ premier summer music and arts festival. Apart from hosting the memorable first year of the production, this venue is particularly special to me because I also got to do the Meet & Greet with Neon Trees here! The year’s headliner was The Temper Trap—still one of the best performances this festival has ever seen IMO.
Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines
I’ve seen quite a bit of performances in this venue, both local and foreign artists. My top three is easy to narrow down, though, since I normally don’t like watching concerts here. (It’s hard to see for someone who’s 4’11 like me because there are no bleachers.) These, however, are exceptions: 1. One Direction: On The Road Again Tour 2. Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams 3. Ed Sheeran
Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines
I flew to Singapore to see Harry Styles go on his first tour as a solo artist. I wasn’t disappointed.

KWEEN ELLA MARIJA LANI YELICH- O’CONNELL MADE ME GO TO JAKARTA! We spent three days in the Holiday Inn and JI Expo area to watch We The Fest 2018. We availed of their festival tickets and hotel bundle, which was affordable considering the lineup of artists (including Miguel, Nick Murphy, SG Lewis, ODESZA, and many more)! Most of it’s a blur now, but I remember getting the most return of investment for any concert I’ve ever shelled out money for!
