Ad Lib Bangkok

106 saves

Bangkok, Thailand • Recommendation •

Start your day (or night) right with this perfectly Instagrammable boutique hotel in Sukhumvit. Everything from the lobby to the rooftop salt water infinity pool shouts chic and boutique. Ad Lib is located on Sukhumvit Soi 3 - near 'Soi Arab' - grab some hummus and hookah to start the night! Sukhumvit is bustling with activity day and night - whether you're looking for authentic street food, a quiet Thai massage or crazy nightlife, Sukhumvit has it all. With easy access to the BTS Skytrain, I will always recommend living along Sukhumvit Road - especially for first-time explorers to Bangkok. Tip: Check out the offers page on their website for the best deal: http://www.adlibbangkok.com/offers/ (All photos: Self-taken.)

Ancient City

Bangkok, Thailand • Recommendation •

A hybrid history museum / park / tourist attraction, Ancient City is a quick one hour's drive outside Bangkok. The 320-hectare "city" features 116 structures of Thailand's famous monuments and architectural attractions. My favorite spots are these two photos - the Mount Meru 'Fish Island'🐟 and Pavilions of the Enlightened 'Turtle Shell Temple'. ðŸĒ Tip: Book on Klook for the cheapest ticket price: http://joshlam.com/klook (All photos: Self-taken.)

Wat Arun, better known as 'The Temple of Dawn', is the iconic temple along Bangkok's riverside that you usually see on sunset postcards. As an architect, I know the importance of stupas in Buddhist architecture where the top symbolically represents the six heavens. What makes this temple so different from a typical Buddhist temple are the colored faience, which is encrusted with colorful porcelain and seashells, creating a kaleidoscope of colors and reflections at different times of the day. Tip: Don't forget about the smaller Ordination Hall which has less crowds but is just as amazing! (All photos: Self-taken.)

The Erawan Museum

Bangkok, Thailand • Recommendation •

A three-headed elephant shaped pink museum? It's not something out of a fairy tale, it truly exists! This amazing museum houses priceless artworks collected by its owner and creator, situated only 1 hour's drive away from Bangkok. The massive elephant is made of bronze and weighs a crazy 250 tons! Meanwhile the inside of the museum is modeled after the Hindu representation of the universe, which consists of the underworld, earth and Heaven, meaning it's perfect for photos! Tip: Come here early to avoid the crowds! (All photos: Self-taken.)
