Get lost in the energetic flow of the city as we take you to some of Taipei’s most iconic bazaars. Come on an empty stomach and bring a quick eye for great bargains—you’re bound to have a memorable haul by the end of the evening!

Shilin Night Market is the largest and most famous night market in all of Taiwan! It comes alive around 5:00PM and stays busy until past midnight. Peruse countless shops offering souvenirs and local street food (we highly recommend that you hunt down the oyster omelet!). Trying everything all at once may seem tempting, but remember to pace yourself; you still have a lot of eating to do!

Raohe Street Night Market draws all the foodies with its long stretch of food kiosks. Gorge on delicious Taiwanese staples such as Black Pepper Buns (Hújiāo Bǐng), Grilled Squid, Pork Rib Bone Soup, and Stinky Tofu. After having your fill, beat out your mates in a few “friendly” rounds of pinball and Mahjong!

Spot the iconic red archway to enter Huaxi Street Night Market! Also known as Snake Alley, it is home to several restaurants that serve local delicacies—the most bizarre being snake soup (hence the nickname). Rest easy, you’ll still find more familiar food options here, in case you’re not too keen on trying anything exotic. Keep walking, and you’ll even see Chinese massage parlors and random fortune tellers!

Frequented by a younger crowd, Ximending Night Market is reminiscent of Tokyo’s Harajuku. It’s one of the capital’s most vibrant shopping districts, boasting an array of fashion boutiques, cosmetics shops, and sports outlets! Neon signages crowd overhead, keeping the roads bright, lively, and picture-perfect. Perk up your ears while you stroll around—you might encounter talented street performers serenading passers-by with their guitars!

Located near a residential area in the Da’an District, Tonghua Night Market sees more Taipei natives than foreign visitors. Here, you will savor a generous selection of delicious hawker fare, as well as a couple of Japanese and Vietnamese specialties. Get a serving of Yan Su Ji, or Taiwanese fried chicken. You’ll see it in other night markets, but the one from Tonghua is said to be the best version of all!

You’re spoilt for choice with even more traditional Taiwanese street food at Ningxia Night Market! It’s one of the smaller and older night markets in Taipei, selling everything from deep-fried Taro Balls to classic bubble tea. Drop by on an empty stomach and take full advantage of the wide variety. Keep in mind that Ningxia’s walkway is a bit narrow, so you might have to squeeze your way through the hungry crowd.

Shida Night Market is situated behind the National Taiwan Normal University, attracting fashion-loving students with its trendy and inexpensive clothing items. Finding fun and unique outfits should be a breeze as most stalls are owned and operated by young entrepreneurs. Once you’re done, munch on some post-shopping bites at any of the food stalls around!
