Head southeast of Bali to explore the laid-back streets of Sanur. It’s known as a beach-side town, with only a handful of restaurants and bars. Locals and regular visitors drop by to explore its night market, which is located in a parking lot near the northern end of Jalan Danau Tamblingan. Come dusk, various warungs (small food stalls) set up shop to offer the best of authentic Indonesian cuisine. Enjoy plates of mie goreng (spicy fried noodles), nasi goreng (spicy fried rice), and lamb or chicken sate (grilled skewers). Wash it all down with a bottle of Bintang Beer or a fruit shake. You’ll still be able to visit the area in the morning when it takes the form of a more local market that sells produce, toys, and other daily necessities.
