Osteria Al Squero is famous for their Crostinis, which are ideal for pairing with their range of wines from Northeast Italy. Follow the regulars (mostly students looking for a cheap fix) and take your ombra and cicchetti out to the bank of the canal. As boats pass by, witness gondola artisans at work at the boatyard right across the water.

Again, declared by James to be the “Best Meal in Venice!” Although their portions were generous, prices are good, and their Secondi... top 3 items (don’t remember what the exact menu items were) were fabulous. Something was called Saor and greatly recommended. Their sardines with onions and olive oil were super yummy!! We also had pasta. The pasta with the mussels were fab. James ordered pasta with squid ink and he enjoyed it. But I’ll be remembering the pasta with mussels.
Osteria alle Testiere
Came for lunch because apparently dinner always needs to be booked months in advance. It is FANTASTIC. But yes, price tags to match. Declared by Dom to be the MUST GO best meal. Incredibly flavourful and fresh fish dishes.
