The dazzlingly white interiors of the Pacamara Boutique is a great way to perk yourself up in the morning. This cozy coffee cubby offers a comfy environment and an extensive Day Menu for taking it slow before the day’s grind. Get in a filling breakfast of Salmon Confit or Eggs Florentine before going about your day.

Pacamara might possibly be my most favourite café in the entire world. They have everything from kitchen gadgets to stouts. Their ambience boasts of crisp white walls, minimalist furniture with consistent touches of wood, high ceilings with floor length windows - yet it still impressively manages to stay laid back and relaxing despite its constant hubbub. Pacamara routinely changes their menu, which definitely has its pros and cons - though if you’re lucky, your no. 1 pick might linger a while longer if it’s a crowd favourite so fingers crossed! My all time favourite from them was their carbonara with prosciutto ham, emphasis on the was because it’s been replaced, although it was on the menu for a pretty loooong time. Their latest menu was launched on 30 May 2019. Their coffee selection isn’t as wide, but as a former barista, I have to say that the way they prepare their coffee is consistent and their beans are always excellent. You even get to choose your preferred type of coffee beans - robusta or arabica. Like their menu, they routinely rotate their bean options. If you’re unsure, they have well trained staff/baristas that are more than willing to assist you, even I sometimes seek their advice. Price wise, Pacamara is definitely on the pricier side (as you can see from their latest menu that I’ve cheekily stolen from their website for my, and yours’, convenience) which they make up for in their generous portions, fresh ingredients and consistently impeccable cooking. Their food is the one that definitely separates them from any other cafe (especially along Thomson Road) All in all I absolutely recommend Pacamara to locals and tourists alike. If you’re looking for a place to work, catch-up with a friend, a family friendly spot or you just want to try a new place with wicked grub, Pacamara is the place to be.

A cozy afternoon spent at Pacamara Boutique Coffee Roasters comes with a delicious mug of in-house roasted java. Coffee offerings are rotated regularly here, so ask the baristas for the day’s selection. The cafe is also known for their comfort food, which pair perfectly with their drinks. Stay ’til dark and watch the Upper Thomson crowd transition from day to night, as espressos are replaced by pale ales and stouts.

I am a fan of classic and historic things. The Den is a coffee shop that can be found at the First United Building in Escolta which is a place full of historical events. I have not tried their product but I look forward to have a cup once I visit Manila again. photo CTTO
