Enter the gates to Pura Taman Saraswati, and you’ll forget that you’re actually at the heart of buzzing Ubud. Serenity envelops the complex. Cross the courtyard of lotus ponds and water gardens, and we’re positive you’ll embody tranquility, as well. Rent a traditional sash and sarong (loose-fitting garment often tied around the waist) to access the temple. Pay your respects to the Hindu Goddess of Knowledge and the Arts before admiring the carvings that adorn the interiors. Reflections are best done in the morning when the site sees fewer people.

Penataran Lempuyang
You may know this very Instagenic temple for the flood of trick photos taken in it's Gates to Heaven, simulating a mirror-like pool, with the backdrop of an almost Fuji-looking mountain. Expect a 2h wait for the photo ops. Off on the east, sitting above the Belibis Hill, it's one of Bali's 9 key directional temples. It's known as the Temple of Thousands Steps because you will have to climb 1700 steps to reach the summit of the temple. Admission Fee: Free
