The Royal Military Canal was constructed to help fight off a Napoleonic Invasion but is now a place where you can have a peaceful and scenic walk or hire a boat and go for a row. The canal is easily accessible in Hythe, an attractive town with a good beach. Every two years since 1898, the town has hosted the Hythe Venetian fete with a floating procession. The pictures show August 2019

As we were only allowed to eat outside ( Covid regulations) and the weather was wet, I was very pleased to find Twenty Four with its perspex canopy on our visit to Hythe. The good was excellent both in terms of quality and presentation. Very good portion size for lunchtime too. They are a delicatessen and greengrocers who pride themselves on local produce and have branched out very professionally into serving meals.

Quirkily appointed beach cafe serving good quality breakfasts and lunches. I appreciated the bottomless Builders tea. Pic shows Ralph about to tuck into his breakfast panini. Wellingtons was established in 1937 and is still going strong. We had window seat and beach view
