Junction 38 Amazing place with world class sculpture.. Henry Moore, Damien Hirst, Ai Weiwei etc in a beautiful outdoor setting. Stay all day. There is some indoor gallery space for temporary exhibitions and the usual catering facilities.

Junction 39 Excellent new gallery in Wakefield to celebrate Barbara Hepworth. Beautiful public garden adjoins the concrete building and lifts it. The inside of the gallery is light and spacious.

Junction 45 M1 has become A1 (M) at this point Harewood House is the home of the Lascelles family, top level English aristocrats with close royal connections. Aside from the house and its state rooms, Harewood boasts extensive grounds, a lake with included little chain ferry across it, a Himalayan garden and a Buddhist stupa. More unexpectedly there was a mini zoo and rather good aviary. Penguins and flamingos being somewhat unusual in Yorkshire!
