Ok I have done Lands End and it is a bit tacky ( though all the surrounding coastal area is beautiful) so I think I need to do John O ‘ Groats as well. Planning a trip to far North of Scotland in September 2020 Can report September 2023 that JOG is far superior to Lands End and that adjacent Duncansby Stacks stunning Also be sure to visit Dunnet Head, the true most Northerly Point of mainland Britain

In a high end hotel, this restaurant apparently does an excellent three course set lunch or pre theatre menu for £28. Recommended to me by a friend who says the food is high quality Italian and service excellent. With little extras such as an amuse bouche, and when they heard it was one of the party’s birthday, a complimentary tray of petits fours. Close to the Albert Hall.

Excellent atmospheric pub close to the British Library and St Pancras. Good traditional food at good prices. Lovely sirloin steak with chips mushrooms and salad £12.50 Craft beers.

The Cordouan lighthouse off the middle West coast of France is described as the Le Phare des Rois ( The Lighthouse of Kings) and Le Roi des Phares ( the King of Lighthouses). It has just been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List as well as now, my own wishlist!

Vichy in France has been rather unfairly saddled with a unhappy reputation since World War Two. Now, the town has just been added to UNESCO’s World heritage list. It will be good to go there to see what it has to offer. The famous Vichy water is there because of the volcanic nature of the Massif Centrale where it is located.
