Love Succs Succulents

Thank you for checking out Love Succs Succulents! I’m Dana! In this photo, you’ll find me alongside my co-workers Pressley and Zooko. They aren't the most efficient employees, but we’re working on it. I identify as a proud Austinite, born and raised. When I’m not planting or potting, you can find me exploring the great outdoors with my dogs, relaxing near a body of water, or at home binge-watching crime television shows. I was given my first succulent in the summer of 2019. At the time, I had just surrendered to my battle with alcohol and substance abuse. This gift served as the perfect symbol and sparked my affinity for these tiny yet tenacious plants. I identified with their unique beauty, strength in enduring harsh conditions, and resilience to regrow and blossom. My collection of succulents has expanded over time, each one a reminder in its own unique way. Even when they look like they're past the point of no return, these powerful plants bravely carry on. Love Succs began in March of 2020. The recent events of COVID-19 and my resulting unemployment forced me to get creative about my newly gained free time. As a way to make space on my patio, I started combining my large accumulation of plants into fun arrangements. When a neighbor stopped to ask me about my creations, it suddenly occurred to me that I could share my endeavor with others! From there, Love Succs was born. I truly hope my supporters can find just as much enjoyment in their arrangements as I do in making them. I’ve learned through recovery that I am the only person responsible for my happiness, and the fulfilling moments I find with my plants prove that. The name and mission of Love Succs is inspired by this Maggi Myers quote: "Plant your own garden instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.”
