Hotel Bencoolen

Singapore, Singapore • Memory •

Not so bad budget hotel with a really, really good location. Right beside an MRT and food court filled with local delights. Room was clean, beds were comfy, but bathroom needs major renovation — water was either too hot or too cold, low water pressure in the shower and had an overall moldy smell. I got sold for their 20% discount during booking lol. Would recommend if you aren’t that particular since the location made up for it but wouldn’t really come back. There are other, newer hotels right beside it that you could check out.

The Populus

Singapore, Singapore • Recommendation •

The Populus is a local hidden brunch gem located in the Tanjong Pagar area. We got the Populus All Day Big Brekky, the Populus Scramble and the Avocado Superfood Green Platter. Portions were very generous without scrimping out on flavor. As for coffee, would highly recommend getting their Monolith Iced White Vanilla coffee! 💯 My husband got their regular black coffee and highly recommended it as well. To summarize: ✔️ Food ✔️ Coffee ✔️ Ambience

JUMBO Seafood (East Coast Seafood Centre, Singapore)

JUMBO Seafood is a must try for those seeking the ultimate Chili Crab experience! Get a big juicy crab for S$8.80/100g with just the right amount of kick and spice! 🌶 For a breaker, would recommend adding on a side dish of Kangkong with minced garlic and Scallops wrapped in yam. Must visit if you want your tummy to go to chili crab heaven 🤩

Haji Lane

Wasn’t able to drop by during day time, so I missed out on taking colorful pictures ☹️ Instead, we dropped by for some drinks on a Saturday night and it was PACKED! There was a huge block party that night and people overflowed from everywhere. They had music ranging from acoustics to DJ hits and the energy was just 💯! Definitely a fun night filled with music, dancing and drinks! Got a Singapore Sling (intended lol) for S$17.00.🍹💃🏽

Lau Pa Sat Festival Market (Telok Ayer Market)

Singapore, Singapore • Recommendation •

Highly recommended Hawker Center if you want to try all of Singapore’s local delights, though this is more of a tourist spot now versus where the locals actually go. At night, they close some streets and set them up as additional seating. This is also where most of the Satay stalls are located! We got Chicken Rice, Satay, Stingray and Naan. Highly recommend getting the Satay!!! 💯

Mellower Coffee

Cute quirky cafe with good coffee. They have other branch locations (Orchard and Bugis) but all seem to have the same ambience and aesthetics. Good for taking away or for relaxing while at the cafe ☕️

Albert Hawker Centre

Singapore, Singapore • Recommendation •

Albert Hawker Centre is where you can find most of the locals grabbing a quick bite to eat (Singaporeans usually do an eat-and-run type of dining). Versus other more well-known touristy hawker centers, this is where you can get cheap, authentic and flavorful local delights. I highly recommend getting the Char Kway Teow from stall #01-117. Been getting from this stall even during my exchange student days and they were still as good as before! Char Kway Teow - S$3.00 We also got the following, which were, of course, still amazing: Fried Carrot Cake - S$4.00 (mix of white and black style) Hainanese Chicken Rice - S$6.00 Fried Pork Rice - S$3.00 Laksa -S$6.00
