If you're looking for a snazzy place to get away from all the ruckus on the streets of Thailand, then Ad Lib Bangkok should definitely be one of your top choices. One of the few spots where style meets comfort, this boutique hotel offers a unique experience starting with its architectural design where lush greens form part of its main interiors. Perfectly situated in the heart of Bangkok, Ad Lib Bangkok provides quick access to the metropolis' main roads making it much easier to go out to discover new places, and get back in after a full day of exploring. Some of the amenities that make it tempting to turn your BKK trip into a staycation would be the hotel's saltwater lap pool overlooking the city's skyline, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and a cozy pool bar and lounge to relax in after a long day. Personally, I would opt for the Extra Plus Room as it includes unlimited barista-served coffee and tea, all-you-can-stuff-on-your-bed pillows, and a free minibar!

The entire complex used to be the official residence of the Thai royal family. It was only up until the early 19th century that the Kings decided to move out—making the Dusit Palace their private dwelling place till 1950. Today, the Amphorn Sathan Residence Hall serves as the current home of the reigning monarch. However, the Grand Palace continues to hold royal ceremonies and other official events of the state. It is also worth taking note that the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha or the Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, could be found within the palace grounds!

Not so far away from the The Grand Palace is Wat Pho—a temple where you can find the revered golden reclining Buddha that stretches out for about 46 meters long! It is also home to one of the oldest traditional Thai massage schools in the country. So you surely wouldn't want to miss out on getting an authentic massage experience while you're at it!

This temple is unquestionably one of the most Instagrammed places in BKK to date. Named after the Indian God of Dawn, Aruna, the site is particularly known for its spire (or the prahng, as the locals would call it) which towers for about 70 meters high. The iconic landmark is a beauty on its own—with its intricate patterns deeply influenced by Chinese, Indian, and Khmer cultures. It is believed that the architectural design was inspired by Mount Meru, which is said to be the center of all the physical and spiritual universes.

Unleash the haggler in you at the world's largest weekend market, Chatuchak! Here you would find a flurry of choices ranging from food to collectibles! The market is divided in 27 organized sections, giving the buyers an easy way to find what they actually wanna buy, should it be as elaborate as an antique wood carving, decorative plants, or even traditional handicrafts! This place is certainly a one stop shop to satisfy your every shopping need.

A trip to Bangkok is never complete without a visit to the infamous Khao San Road. It is the place to go to to get that real tourist experience, be it to party like there's no tomorrow or to simply meet fellow travellers! The stretch is chock-full of hostels and restaurants which makes it a popular destination for backpackers. Some of the places that I honestly would love to check out would be the jazz clubs, Sara Barn Books, and the night market!

What better way to learn more about a country's culture than to do as the locals do! One of Thailand's age-old traditions is to watch a good game of Muay Thai, Thailand's national sport. Located a little far off from the city center, Lumpinee Boxing Stadium is one of nation's oldest boxing rings. Fights are held on three days of week and each bout usually lasts around 20 minutes more or less. Catching a glimpse of the event at Lumpinee will not only entertain you with adrenaline-pumping action, it will also be an opportunity for you to put your money to good use as all proceeds will go towards helping the Thai Army.

Arguably the most famous market of its kind, the Damnoen Floating Market is open on all days of the week and starts operations as early as 7AM then closes shops as late as 5PM. The boats run across the Khlong Damnoen Saduak, the longest and straightest canal in all of Thailand. It would be best to visit this site on an empty stomach as you would find a plethora of unique bites to get you going! Some of the most popular foods that you can't leave without trying are the boat noodles and coconut rice cakes!

Jim Thompson was an American businessman and former spy that helped revive the forlorn Thai silk industry on the heels of World War II. Right after his mysterious disappearance, his house was repurposed as a museum to showcase Thompson's vast collection of paintings, ceramics, and woven masterpieces.
