The temple derives its name from the Hindu god Aruna, often personified as the radiations of the rising sun. Wat Arun is among the best known of Thailand's landmarks. The first light of the morning reflects off the surface of the temple with pearly iridescence

Wat Arun, better known as 'The Temple of Dawn', is the iconic temple along Bangkok's riverside that you usually see on sunset postcards.
As an architect, I know the importance of stupas in Buddhist architecture where the top symbolically represents the six heavens.
What makes this temple so different from a typical Buddhist temple are the colored faience, which is encrusted with colorful porcelain and seashells, creating a kaleidoscope of colors and reflections at different times of the day.
Tip: Don't forget about the smaller Ordination Hall which has less crowds but is just as amazing!

From the picture itself, it looks spectacular! The temple is home to five towering prangs, or towers, which can be seen from the river. These are covered with vibrant porcelain and colorful ceramic tiles, many of which are made to look like pieces of foliage.

Wat Arun - วัดอรุณ - “Temple of Dawn”
•
One of the most stunning temples in Bangkok, not only because of its riverside location but also because the design is very different from the other temples that we can visit in Bangkok.😍
~
Although it’s known as the Temple of the Dawn, it's absolutely stunning at sunset, particularly when lit up at night. Even so, the quietest time to visit is early morning, before the crowds.
~
Given the beauty of the architecture and the fine craftsmanship, it’s not surprising that Wat Arun is considered by many as one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand. Don’t forget to capture our moment when visiting this mesmerizing place.📸
~
Wat Arun is almost directly opposite Wat Pho, so it’s very easy to get to.
SEE YOU VERY SOON WAT ARUN!🙌🏻

FYI, the complete name of this temple is;
Wat Arunratchawararam Ratchaworamahavihara

I can only image the stories that this temple holds. My goal is to try to come here with enough time to be in awe of it's beauty while the sun sets.

This temple is unquestionably one of the most Instagrammed places in BKK to date. Named after the Indian God of Dawn, Aruna, the site is particularly known for its spire (or the prahng, as the locals would call it) which towers for about 70 meters high. The iconic landmark is a beauty on its own—with its intricate patterns deeply influenced by Chinese, Indian, and Khmer cultures. It is believed that the architectural design was inspired by Mount Meru, which is said to be the center of all the physical and spiritual universes.

Wat Arun is a spectacular riverside temple famous for its intricate spires. There are five prangs (Khmer-style towers) in the compound, each encrusted with colorful pieces of Chinese ceramics and porcelain. Climb the central steeple to marvel at views of the winding Chao Phraya River and the Grand Palace across the bank.

Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, is one of the largest and most beautiful temples in Bangkok. It is particularly significant to Buddhist worshippers as it pays homage to Mount Meru—the central world-mountain mentioned in Buddhist cosmology.
Wat Arun’s architecture is impeccably delicate, its main feature being the porcelain-coated prang (Khmer tower). Whip out your camera and take photos or stay to watch the sun slowly rise behind the temple where the morning light sparkles off its golden spires.

Sensoji is a Buddhist temple in Asakusa. It is also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple. It's one of Tokyo's most vibrant and well-known temples.

Sensō-ji (金龍山浅草寺, Kinryū-zan Sensō-ji) is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. It is Tokyo's oldest temple, and one of its most significant. Formerly associated with the Tendai sect of Buddhism, it became independent after World War II.
Adjacent to the temple is a five-story pagoda, the Asakusa Shinto shrine,[1] as well as many shops with traditional goods in the Nakamise-dōri.
When we went there there’s a lot of people. If you have kids and still riding a stroller, they have a lift so you can enter the temple.
I will recommend this place.

Missing Thailand 🇹🇭— the food, the shopping and the temples
Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), or Wat Phra Chetuphon, is right behind the Temple of the Emerald Buddha – it’s a must-see for any first-time visitor to Bangkok.
You should also try their streetfoods— pad thai and mango sticky rice. Don’t forget to ride a tuktuk
