To taste Thailand's most iconic dish, it's best to have it at Thailand's long running Padthai eatery, Thipsamai. Menu is very simple with 5 different types of Padthai but the star of the eatery is called the Superb Padthai. They serve this charcoal flavoured in omellette-wrapped noodles with either regular or jumbo prawns.

Operating for over 50 years in Bangkok’s Old City quarter, Thipsamai Padthai serves the best pad thai in the capital! Several cooks man different stations as they whip up the noodle dish over a charcoal fire, lending to a frenzy of sounds and aromas. Get the Superb Pad Thai which includes giant prawns and comes wrapped in an omelette; then, pair it with their equally famous fresh pulpy orange juice! Pro tip: when asking for directions to Thipsamai, refer to it as “Pra-Too-Pee,” its local nickname.

“Aspire to be authentic.” — Yann Martel I’m a late bloomer when it comes to Thai food. I just discovered Thai Cuisine 7 years ago and there’s no week that I wont crave for it. Most of their food are salty, sweet, sour, bitter and can be real spicy which I like. 𝙎𝙬𝙞𝙥𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙢 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙣! I’m glad that The Pad By Samyan @thepadbysamyan is now open! It’s the hippest pad for Pad Thai! Why? They serve different types of Thai Noodles - Pad Thai Moo (Pork), Pad Thai Gung (Shrimp), Pad Thai Pu (Crab), Pad Thai Gai (Chicken) and Pad Thai Talay (Seafood). Amazing right? And what’s more amazing? It’s by ThiTid Tassanakajohn @cheftonn and Samyan @samyanph is a ThaiSelect Casual Awardee. It’s 100% guaranteed you’ll only have authentic Pad Thai. 👌🏼 Their 📌 Pad Thai Gai is pretty impressive! It’s sour, semi-sweet, lovely textures from the noodles, chicken, tofu and fresh veggies, not saucy but flavorsome! Loaded with ingredients and very filing. Left me craving for more! 🙈 I’m also hooked with their 📌Thai Tea - it has this strong tea taste, slightly sweet and spiced and that sourness from the tamarind .. yum! I even added non-dairy milk with it. Sooo good! If you’re into Pad Thai, It’s a must try! Visit The Pad by Samyan for Dine-in and takeout at @thegridfoodmarket The Grid Food Market Stall 16 (Samyan). You can also order via thepad.pickup.ph, bit.ly/shopoffgridph, FoodPanda, GrabFood and Pick-a-Roo. Try it and lmk what you think! Chunky tofu, dried shrimp, and juicy prawns make up each plate of pad thai at Pad Thai Goong Sod Nai Sa Nga! The humble stall only started selling the noodle dish a few years ago, switching from kuay jub (noodle soup with intestines) and por pia sod (Thai fresh spring rolls). Their new sweet-tangy specialty became an instant hit! Come with an appetite; the portions are filling.

Parked across the Kikuya clothing store, Pad Thai Kikuya is an old-school pushcart run by an aged couple. They’ve kept a steady stream of regulars for years to sample their unique twist on the local delicacy. Here, they skip the tamarind paste and roasted peanuts. Instead, the noodles—which are thinner than usual and cut into short lengths—are cooked over a charcoal fire and served with Thai chives and a banana flower. The dish also uses duck egg for a richer flavor. Take your order to-go to and they’ll give it to you in a banana leaf cup!
